No one can quarrel with the main point raised in your recent article that preference should bo given (especially by tho Government) to New Zealand products wherever it is within tho bounds of practicability and commonsense to do so. but 1 think you will agree that the architects of matured experience arc the best judges as to the most suitable timbers to use “ for tho purpose in view,” and the Government. like private concerns, is in the hands of their expert advisers, who finally have to accent the responsibility for producing a satisfactory and lasting job.—l am, etc., Edward T G.
