(Received Jan 27, at 7 p.m.) The new motor boat destroyer Serrano, which is named after one of the naval heroes of the country, was launched yesterday by Madame Huneeus, wife of the Chilean Minister to Great Britain, at the Woolston works of Messrs Thornycroft. The Serrano is the first of six oceangoing destroyers, five of which are at present in various stages of construction. The contract for them was started m May, 1927, and its value is about £1,750,000. Practically every shipbuilding country competed for the order. The destroyers have a length overall of 300tt and a displacement of about 430 tons
