WIND STORM IN AMERICA

TEN PEOPLE KILLED. DAMAGE TO PROPERTY UNKNOWN (Frets Association —By Telegraph—Copyright..) NEW YORK, January 25. A violent wind storm throughout the Western United States killed 10 people and injured many. The damage to property at present cannot be estimated. The gale reached a velocity of 70 miles an hour. Pedestrians in New York city fought tTieir way to the subways in the elevated stations against wind tnat made walking arduous. The waters in the harbour, churned by the gale, swamped two boats. All the liners were delayed. Many injuries were caused as the result of a number of persons being unable, through the force of the wind, to dodgc the automobiles. —A. and N.Z. Cable.
