TOUR OF ENGLAND.
PROSPERITY ON THE CONTINENT BANKING BUSINESS SOUND. (Special to Oailx Times.) AUCKLAND, January 24. “ What struck me most was the prosperity of Belgium and the tremendous energy that France was putting into things,” said Mr W. Beadel, of Chris l church, who returned to New Zealand by the Arawa this morning after a 12 months tour of England and the Continent. “ But poor old England,” he added, “ agricul turally she seems to be a dismal failure, and the farmers are weighted down with taxation. A frightful summer has spoilt the crops, and the Government is sup porting only the sugar beet industry. In dustrially things seem to bo very hope ful, although there is a lot of unemployment still, and a number of contracts are going to foreign firms. Banking is on a very sound basis, and even in the tiniest hamlets one sees a bank, and, in some cases, two banks-
