DOMINIONS' SECRETARY

INTERVIEW AT OTTAWA. IMPERIAL CONFERENCE DATE. (Frees Association —By Telegraph—Copyright.) OTTAWA, January 23. In th course of an interview here, Mr L. S. Amery said he saw no difficulty in holding an Imperial Conference anywhere in the Empire. He favoured a conference every three years. He added that an election seemed probable in Britain this year, and in South Africa and Australia next year. It was difficult, therefore, to see how a conference would be possible in 1929. The probable date was 1932. THE NEW POST IN CANADA. BRITISH REPRESENTATIVE, OTTAWA, January 23. The supplementary change of personal communications was the description by Mr L. S. Amery in a press interview of the new post of British representative in Canada. Asked if there was a possibility of the setting up of a diplomatic service within the Empire, Mr Amery eaid that _ the term diplomacy was open to ambiguities in Imperialism. The new posts were more like liaison work, and not like limited discussions between foreign powers. The question who should fill the position and what rank he should hold is one for the Dominion concerned.
