PRESIDENT IN AMERICA. A ROUND OF ENGAGEMENTS. (Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright.) WASHINGTON, January 23. (Received Jan. 24, at 7 p.m.) Mr Cosgrave (President of the Irish Free State) has arrived from Chicago and has begun a list of engagements that will probably make him the most entertained overseas visitor in recent years. Com menting on Chicago, he said: “1 found that Mr Thompson has been greatly libelled. He is a fine, genial, big Ameri can.” , Mr Cosgrave visited President Coohdge, and lunches with him to-morrow. The Canadian Minister (Mr V. Massey), the Irish Minister (Mr T. A. Smiddy), Sir Esme Howard, Mr F. B. Kellogg, and other officials ar e entertaining in his honour. He will proceed to Philadelphia, then to Ottawa later in the week, returning to Ireland on February 3.—A. and N.Z. Cable.
