SUSSEX FROM CALCUTA. The Union Company advises that the Sussex, which has been delayed _at Lyttelton owing to a shortage of waterside labour, is now expected to leave that port on Monday for Timaru and Dunedin to discharge part cargo from Calcutta and Penang. The vessel should arrive here about Wednesday. TANKER PAUA COMING. The British Imperial Oil Company advises that the coastal tanker Paua is «t----pected to leave Wellington to-day for Dunedin. She should arrive on Monday, and will discharge 475 tons of motor spirit and 100 tons of bulk spirit into the company s tanks on the Harbour Board’s reclamation area. From this port the Paua will go to Bluff to complete discharge. MAHTA LEAVES MONTEVIDEO. The Shaw-Savill steamer Mahia, which sailed from Port Chalmers on December 24 for London, via Punta Arenas, left Montevideo last Sunday morning in continuation of her voyage. CARGO FROM LIVERPOOL. The Westmoreland la scheduled to leave Liverpool to-day with general cargo for discharge at Auckland, Napier, Wellington, Lyttelton, Dunedin and New Plymouth. She is due at Auckland about February 28. RUAPEHU LEAVES SOUTHAMPTON. Cable advice received by the New Zealand Shipping Company states that the Ruapehu, which loaded at London, sailed from Southampton on Thursday morning for Wellington, Lyttelton and Port Chalmers. The vessel is due at Wellington on February 28 to lana passengers only. Her cargo will be discharged at the other two ports named. She is expected at Port Chalmers about March 4. ARAWA PROM LIVERPOOL. According to a wireless message received by the Shaw, Savill and Albion Company, the liner Arawa will arrive at Auckland on Monday from Liverpool, via Panama. The radio message states that the vessel hag 78 saloon and 165 third-class passengers, and all on board are well. The Arawa is bringing general cargo for discharge at Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton and Dunedin. CYDONIA FROM CANADA. The New Zealand Shipping Company advises that the chartered steamer Cydonia left Auckland on Thursday afternoon for Wellington, Lyttelton and Dunedin to continue discharging general cargo from Montreal. The vessel is due at this port about January 27. THE MANCHESTER MERCHANT. With American cargo for discharge atViuckland, Wellington, Lyttelton and Dunedin, the 0. and D. Line’s chartered steamer Manchester Merchant is due at Auckland about to-morrow from New York. The vessel is expected at this port about February 2. THE CANADIAN PIONEER. Cabled news has been received by the Canadian Government agency that the Canadian Pioneer arrived at New York on January 13 from Auckland, en route to Boston and Halifax. The vessel left Auckland on December 6. PERSONAL ITEMS. Mr J. B. Dymock has joined the Kamona as second officer, in place of Mr J. Sinclair. Mr S. E. Ross has taken the place of Mr J. M’Gill, sixth engineer of the Sussex. Captain M. T. Holm has taken command of the Progress, in place of Captain H. Hay. Mr A. Day, late chief eteawrd of the Marama, is now acting chief steward of the R.M.S. Niagara. TANKER AMPULLARIA. The Anglo-Saxon Petroleum Company’s oil tanker Ampullaria, which discharged 7432 tens of bulk petrol into the British Imperial Oil Company’s tanks at Miramar (Wellington) this week, is making her first visit to New Zealand. On the voyage from San Pedro (Ca’ifornia) the ship had moderate seas and winds. The Ampullaria i s an oil burning steam-driven vessel of 5857 tons, built in 1021 f<w her present owners. She has lately been running in the Shanghai-San Francisco and the Slngapore-Australian trade. Captain R. Rigby is in command. PASSENGERS BY THE BENDIGO. MOVEMENTS OF WARSHIPS. Naval exercises in the Haurakl Gulf, which were commenced on January 17, were postponed on account of the absence of the cruisers Dunedin and Diomede searching for the missing airmen. The sloops Laburnum and Veronica left Auckland on Tuesday for the gulf and were followed by the Dunedin and Diomede on Thursday. On January 27 the Diomede will return to Auckland and the Dunedin will proceed to Whangaroa, being due back at Auckland on February 6. Tlio Diomede will visit Russell from January 30 to February 8 and after re-fuelling at Auckland on February 9, will proceed south. The Dunedin will commence a southern cruistj on February 16. NORTHUMBERLAND AT BLUFF. The Northumberland, which is at present loading at Bluff, is under the command of Captain H. L. Upton, D.S.C., R.D., R.N.K., and with him are the following officers; Chief, P. B. Clarke: second, A. I. Robertson; third, H. Weatherall; fourth, I. P. Clemen : fifth, K. Ledger; first radio, M. The Northumberland left Liverpool on October 31 reaching Port Said on November TO, Aden November 15, and Fremantle on December 1, being held up there one week owing to the strike. She reached Adelaide on December 20, Melbourne December 22, Sydney January 2, Brisbane January 8, leaving there on January 13 for Bluff. The Northumberland is expected to sail to-day for northern ports to complete loading for England.
