CRICKET.

OTAGO v. WELLINGTON. The Plunket Shield match between Otago and Wellington will begin at Carisbrook at 11.30 this morning. The Wellington team is a strong allround side, including T. C. Lowry, H. M'Girr, and K. C. James, three of the most successful members of the New Zealand team which toured England. The other members of the team have all performed well in representative matches. The visitors have variety in their attack, and may be regarded as a formidable team. The Otago team will be strengthened by the inclusion of R. C. Blunt and G. R. Dickinson, but, unfortunately, Eastman, Shepherd, and Alloo will be absent. It is understood that Alloo’s defection is the result .of an injury received in the match between Otago and Wellington, at Wellington. An excellent wicket has been prepared, so that the conditions will be in favour of tall scoring. Play will start at 11.30 each day and conclude at 6.30. BOYS’ REPRESENTATIVE GAMES, Word has been received from the hon. secretary of the Canterbury Boys’ Cricket Association that the two teams to play the Otago boys on Thursday and Friday of next week will arrive on Tuesday. The visiting teams are said to be strong allround combinations, and are going to make a big bid to recover the honours they lost to our boys in Christchurch last season.
