r -3* OTAGO CENTRE MEETING. The monthly meeting of the local centre of the Royal Life Saving Society was held last night, and was presided over by Mr H. H. Henderson. There wore also present Messrs W. Jepson, D. Bannatyne, W. Jenkins, W. H. Saunders, A. Knight, J. MTndoe, T. Fogg, AWARDS. The following awards were confirmed: Elementary proficiency and bronze medallion.—L. Pithie, W. Boyd, A. Harrod. Instructor’s Certificate.—H. M. Clark. Awart of Merit. —Marjorie Hervpy, Honor Carswell. Bronze Medallions.—Rua Frapwell, Daphne Chrystall, Dorothy Davies, Molly Brent, Jean Ramsay, Allison Bell, Elizabeth Bell. Elementary Certificates. Mona M’Lean, Beryl Service, Gretchen Williams, Rosemary Ross, Betty M'Kenzie. Proficiency Certificates. Heather M’Culloch, Dorothy Davies, Rua Prapwell. Elementary and Proficiency Certificates. —R. Geddes, J. Holland, J. Holland. NELSON SHIELD CONTEST. Advice was received from the New Zealand Council that all competitors in the forthcoming national four-man championship must be holders of the society’s bronze medallion. It was decided that the land-drill section of the Nelson Shield and four-man surf championships 1 e held at 10.30 on Tuesday, January 24, and the Nelson Shield contest in the afternoon, and the four-man championship at 6.30 p.m. The following officials were appointed to control the Nelson Shield contest and four-man surf championships on Tuesday nextßeferee, Mr H. H. Henderson ; judges—Messrs L. Dawkins (Wellington). F. Collins (Canterbury), and J. L. MTndoe (Otago). ANNUAL CONFERENCE. It w-as decided that the annual conference of delegates be held on Wednesday next, and that Messrs Bannatyne and Henderson act as delegates from the Dunedin Centre.
