OTAGO’S EASY VICTORY. RACE TO BE RESAILED. AUCKLAND AND CANTERBURY BOATS FOUL. (Pee United Press Association.) AUCKLAND, January TB. The fifth race for the Cornwell Cup contest was sailed to-day. Otago led all the way and finished 4tnin 28sec ahead of Tauranga, with Manukau next. Owing to a foul between Auckland and Canterbury, the race was ordered to be resailed on the ground that the collision, which caused Auckland to retire, had a detrimental effect on the boat’s gear and spoiled her chance of carrying on in the race Canterbury on the port tack fouled Auckland on the starboard shortly after the start. Auckland was then 33sec behind Otago. Canterbury and Auckland retired, and also Whangarei. Only Otago and Auckland will bo allowed to start in the race to-morrow, but if Auckland wins, all the boats will be allowed to start in another race later in the afternoon. Should Otago win the first race, it will secure the cup.
