HAILSTORM IN ROCKHAMPTON.

INCALCULABLE DAMAGE. BRISBANE, January 18. (Received Jan. 18, at 10.30 p.m.) A terrific hailstorm in Rockhampton district caused incalculable damage, in some places pieces of ice measuring Gin by Sin perforating the roofs and ruining the pineapple farms. The storm was accompanied by a roaring noise, which was heard tor miles. The hail fell with such terrific force that poultry and pigs were killed outright, while other stock in the line of the storm went mad, charging through fences and other obstructions, and adding to the heavy stock death roll. EARTHQUAKE IN TASMANIA. HOBART, January 18. (Received Jan. 19, at 1 a.m.) A slight earthquake shock, the ' finst for many years, was experienced at Hobart, but at Ross, in the Midlands, houses were severely shaken.
