ARTILLERY CAMP.

The 12th Battery (N.Z.A.) entrained for Matarae on Saturday last, when there was a largo train made up of hprse tracks, wagons loaded with guns and howitzers foi three batteries and carriages. The battery is under the command of Captain L. A. Rhodes and with him are associated Lieutenants 11. M. Taylor and J. C. M‘Fnrlane. Including R.N.Z.A. personnel, the band and a number of the artillery section of the Otago Boys’ High School Cadets, the parade state numbered 211. The men were all very keen and looked forward to fine weather and instructive training. The camp will be under the supervision of Major A. B. Williams, D. 5.0., K.N.Z.A.. and Captain G. P. Parkinson, U.N.Z.A., as gunnery instructor, and Lieutenant I. R. Withcli, camp adjutant. Captain I. L. Richards, the 12th Battery chaplain, Father M’Mahon, Captain G. P. Fitzgerald, N.Z.M.C., and Mr Postgate, representing the Y.M.C.A., are also attending the camp. During the week the camp will be visited by Major-general R. Young, C.8.G.M.G., D. 5.0., officer commanding N.Z.M.F., Colonel M. M. Gard’ncr, D. 5.0., colonel commandant Southern Command, Colonel F. Symon, C.M.G., D. 5.0., director of Artillery, Major P. H.
