GOLF.

THE KIRK-WINDEYER GUP. AUSTRALIAN TEAM ARRIVES, (Per United Press -iSSOciATioa AUCKLAND, January 17. The members of the New South Wales golf team who will play the New Zealand team for the Kirk-Win'deyer Cup at Wei lington on January 30, arrived from Sydney by the Maunganui to-day. They are Dr Sydney Jones (captain of the Australian Golf'Club), Dr Nigel Smith (Royal Sydney Golf Club), Dr Lee Brown (Australian Golf Club), and Mr W. Smith (Manly Golf Club). The other member of the team—Mr W. Dobson, of the Concord Golf Club—will arrive at Wellington. In addition to the members of the team other Australian golfers have come to watch the contest for the cup, and to play on Dominion courses. Dr Sydney Jones said that the cup team was a very strong one, and all the members were at present playing well. Great interest was being taken in the forthcoming test by golfers in New South Wales and in other parts of the Commonwealth. The visitors were confident that they would make a good fight for the cup. Mi W. Smith was runner-up in the State Championship last season, while Dr Sydney Jones, partnered with Mr M‘Lolland, 'won the Australian Amateur Foursomes Championship. All the members of the team are fit and well, and are looking forward to the match.
