In the Southland Handicap at the Fortuity Park Trotting Club’s meeting, Cardinal and Blue is on the 24yds mark, and not on 12yds, as telegraphed.' Acceptances forthe first day of the Forbury Park meeting are due on Friday next. Terence Dillon is a sound favourite for the Dunedin Cup with those who indulge in ante-post transactions. R. B. Berry has purchased a property at Templeton and will in future train his team on a private track. Turi Chimes, a winner at Wairio, will step to a tighter mark than she recorded there. She is by Cathedral Chimes from Flower o’ Turi, and shapes like one that will develop into a winner over two miles. The Brent Locanda gelding Kiljinchy who won at Ashburton off a 36 mark, had to go 2min 144 sec in a 2min 24sec class. A prospective buyer was after Bingen Boy, but money could not buy him. Horses that cannot be bought are generally worth keeping, and remembering. The Ashburton track is very fast, and seems to have a lot of bounce when it can push a horse along to win as Killinchy did in around ssec better than the handicap. Great Form was close up second, and also knocked the same margin off his handicap. Royal Serene, who won the Melrose Trot at Ashburton last week, was got by Realm, who would very probably make good with a chance at the stu’d. Good nominations have been received for the Cheviot Trotting Club’s programme, which caters for the 2.30 horse, It is safe to wager that the 2.30 horse will not win at the meeting. Although Sea Pearl has not been racing up to form this season, she looks- in good shape, and may race with better luck in the near future. H. Frost is giving Talent a spell, and the Calm horse should be benefited by it. He has done a fair amount of racing of late without much success. J. Bryce will probably be represented at the Nelson Trotting. Club’s meeting by Bankhead and Tumatakuru, the former a brother to Cardinal Logan and the latter a three-quarter brother to Kohara, the New Zealand Cup winner. Kohara is at present in Auckland under the care of A. Bryce; an 4, with Money Spider, will be prepared for the Otahuhu Trotting Club’s summer meeting. Nancy M ! Kinney is moving attractively in her work at New Brighton, and her trainer (A. G. Wilson) is hopeful that she will shortly produce in a race what she has shown herself capable of on the training track. She is a very nice filly, and seems only to need racing experience to turn out a good stake winner. The trotter Nelson Bell continues to train on satisfactorily under A. G. Wilson’s charge. Nelson Bell, who is by Nelson Bingen, from that great Southland mare Bellflower, gave promise as a youngster of being an exceptional trotter. Later, however, he developed trouble in his hocks, and this seemed practically to end his career as i possible high grader. He has won some stake money, but he is not likely to improve. When he is hard put to it in his training work he invariably goes wrong. The New Brighton trainer may get a race out of him, but it is very doubtful.
