RONA WINS FIRST AUCKLAND TRIAL. (Peb Jkited Press Assoc;atioh.) AUCKLAND, January 17. The first trial race for the Sanders Cup was held this afternoon over a windward and leeward course. There was a fresh breeze from th e east. Tire race was a close one. The starters were: —Rona, Avalon, Joan, and Queen March. Rona took the lead from the start, but there was little between her and Avalon all the way round th e course. In an exciting finish Rona beat Avalon by Ssec and Joan by 30sec. Queen March was 3min further away.
