Saturday, Decembeb 24. (Before Messrs A. Lowrie and.K. Ferguson, J.P.'s) DRUNKENNESS. Charles Woodward was fined 22s 6d, including 2s 6d cab fare, in default 48 hours' imprisonment. IDLE AND DISORDERLY. 1 Thomas Farrell pleaded guilty to a I charge of being idle and disorderly in that he had no lawful visible means of support.—Constables Fitzgibbon and Fox gave evidence. —Defendant was convicted and ordered to come up for sentence if called upon within the next six months. James Johnson was charged with having, on December 24, at Dunedin, he being released upon probation, failed to comply with the terms of his probation.— On the application of the Senior Sergeant, the man was remanded to the 30th ir.st. VAGRANCY. A charge against a person, whose name was suppressed, of being an idle and disorderly person, in that he had insufficient lawful means of support, was adjourned to the 30th insl. ALLEGED UNLAWFUL OPERATION. j Mary Jane Clark was charged with having, on November 27, committed an unlawful act, thereby causing the death of a young woman. —She was also charged with unlawfully using an instrument upon the girl.—Chief Detective Cameron stated that the accused had only been arrested that morning by Detectives Roycroft and Hart, and he asked for a remand for a week.—The remand was granted. The accused was liberated on the first charge in her own recognisance of £2OO and two sureties of £IOO each; and on the second charge in her own recognisance.
