ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
A CHILD POISONED. [Special to Daily Times.) AUCKLAND, December 15. Through drinking from a bottle of sulphuric acid which he found in a cowshed, Gcorgo Pratten, aged three years, and ahalf, a son of George Pratten, of Hunua, near Papakura, was fatally poisoned. The boy was immediately treated and showed an improvement, but later ho collapsed and died in spite of every effort to save him. KILLED BY MOTOR LORRY. (Peu United Press Association.) WELLINGTON, December 15. Pamela Martin aged five years, who resided at 26 Nelson street, Potone, died in the public hospital at 5 p.m. to-day from injuries received through being _ knocked down by a motor lorry_ in Adelaide road. The deceased was visiting hor grandmother, Mrs Emma Louisa Standon, at 10 Myrtle crescent, in company with another child. Mrs Standen was alighting from u tram at the Brown street stop in Adelaide road, when the little girl darted from her grandmother’s side and ran into a tramway lorry which was being driven in the direction of the city, the rear righthand wheel passing over her. The de ceased was taken to the hospital, whore she was found to be suffering from scalp wounds, concussion, and internal injuries.. Death took place an hour after admission.
