EARLY RESIDENTS’ SOCIAL.
WAIKOUAITI CHURCH GATHERING. On Tuesday afternoon the veterans of Waikouaiti representing members of the church congregation back to the time ot the Rev. John Christie, who resided in tho district 50 or 40 years ago, woro entertained by tho young people of tho Presbyterian Church. An interesting time was spent and old memories wore revived The veterans were welcomed hy tho Rev. Mr Potts, who is now in charge of the church, and interesting addresses were given by tho Mayor, Mr G. J. L. Kerr, the Rev. Mr Whittlcstone, and Messrs Hallett and Macaulay. Musical items were given by Mrs A. R. Townsend and Misses Christie, Warren, and Dempster, while the young women provided supper. At the close of the function photographs were taken. Among the veterans present were Mosdames Hallott, J. MU ill, Dempster, M’Oan, Carson, Rendell, Hallum, Hunter, Kerr, G. Maxwell, J. Aitohison, Warren, and Wilson (Flag Swamp); Messrs John Macaulay, W. Hallum, W. Rendell, W M’Dougnll, Hallott, W. Maxwell, G. Hunt. J. Hunter, J. Maxwell, Dempster, and P. White.
