WAR COMPENSATION

FINAL SESSION OF COURT. TOTAL OF CLAIMS HEARD. (British Official Wireless.) (Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright ) RUGBY, December 13. (Received Dee. 14, at 5.5 p.m.) The final public session of the War Compensation Court, which in 1920 succeeded the Defence of the Realm Commission, will be held on Friday. The court was organised at the outbreak of war to deal with claims for compensation arising out of emergency war measures in such a way that a minimum injury would be done to the public finances and to the rights of the citizens. The claims heard by these courts have totalled £16,500,000, and the payments made in respect of the various claims amounted to nearly £9,000,000.
