CHRISTMAS CHEER.
FOE SOLDIERS’ CHILDREN. Children of deceased soldiers will not jc forgotten by the Dunedin Returned Soldiers’ Association tin's Christmas, as the executive has made complete arrangements to entertain the little ones in a fitting .manner next Saturday afternoon. The function will he held in the grounds of First Church, and over 200 children have been invited. These children are the sons and daughters of Dunedin men who died while on active service during the Great War. or after their return, or are inmates of hospitals- and sanatoria. At last night’s meeting of the Returned Soldiers’ Association executive a report on the arrangements made for holding the function was submitted by Mr P. S. Anderson, who said that the children would be fittingly entertained, as no details bad been overlooked. A fairly large sum had been expended in the purchase of suitable toys and also prizes for the winners of the sports events. IMr'shments would he provided, and altogether the children would spend a very enjoyable day. The Regimental Rand would be in attendance, and a section of the Girl Guidos would assist in the proceeding.?. A Christmas tree, laden with useful presents, will bo placed on the ground, and every child will he remembered. A babj competition will also be held.
