KELSEY-YARALLA KINDERGARTEN.

BREAKING-UP CEREMONY. The breaking-up ceremony in connection with the Kelsey-Yaralla Free Kindergarten School, at the north end of the city, was held yesterday morning. The pupils attended the break-up with scarcely an exception, and the interest parents friends took in the establishment was easily gauged by the large number present. Mrs G. Maclean presided. The largest apartment at Yaralla was none too big to accommodate the visitors and leave sufficient space for the pupils to give their action songs, etc. Miss Kelsey’s name has been associated with kindergarten work for a number of years; it was Miss Kelsey who took control once the movement had been well launched by those who were deeply interested in it and who carried a good work to fruition. In later times Miss Macdonald has taken a more active part in the work of the kindergarten, in which she is evidently deeply interested, but Miss Kelsey has never lost touch with it. The large reception room was beautifully decorated for the occasion. The children, under the guidance of the principal and her assistants, made good use of th e opportunity for advancement. The room was both pretty and pleasant. The Christmas tree was loaded with presents for fathers and mothers, made by the little ones, somewhat of a departure from the general rule. Mrs Maclean and Mr J. J. Clark briefly addressed the parents present. There was a fairly lengthy programme of songs and games, and the presents given to the children near the conclusion of the break-up were very numerous. Several of these came from Miss Kelsey and the many warm friends of the school. The break-up was wel] timed, so as not, at the end, to interfere with the domestic duties of the ladies present.
