A BOGUS PUBLICAN.

PLEADS GUILTY TO FORGERY. (Pun United Press Association.) AUCKLAND, December 1. Richard Thomas Douglas Cook, aged 22, pleaded guilty in the Police Court to forgery of n credit note on the Bank of New South Wales for £5449, with the intention that it he acted upon as genuine; and also to forging a promissory note for £4O. Evidence was given by an hotel owner that accused introduced himself as a publican from Sydney, saying that he wanted to buy an hotel. He paid a deposit of £5 on an Auckland hotel. Accused was committed to the Supreme Court for sentence.
