ALIENATED AFFECTIONS.
HUSBAND AWARDED £3OO DAMAGES. COUSIN AS CO-RESPONDENT. (Special to Dails Tim-s.) CHRISTC— JRCH, November 29. How a man alienated the affections ol his cousin’s wife, causing her to desert her home and children, was told m the Sipreme Court to-day before Mr Fustice Adams and a jury of 12 in a petition foi divorce and damages. The jury awarded the husband £3OO damages against 'n* cousin. The action for divorce was brought oy George Edmund Collett, railway employee, of Alma street St. Kilda>, Dunedin, ohe respondent being Evelyn Collett, of Christ church, and the co-respondent Alfred Frederick Webb, engineer. Christchurch The petitioner, who was represented ly Mi J. S. Sinclair. Dunedin claimed £507 damages from the co-respondent. There was no appearance of the respondent or the co-respondent. The jury was empannelled simply to assess the damages, f any. in the event of the divorce being granted. Counsel stated that Collett and his wife who were married in 1919. lived together bapply until Webb appeared on the scene. The couple, with their four young children, were then living in Christchurch. Later the Colletts went to live in Dunedin, and had been there only a short time when Mrs Collett left the petitioner to return to Christchurch, where she was found living with the co-respondent as man ahd wife. His Hoor granted a decree nisi, and the jury assessed the damages at £3OO, judgment being entered accordingly against the co-respondent.
