DACRE FOR ENGLAND.

(Special to Daily Vimeb.) ‘ AUCKLAND, November 28. C. C. Dacre says he has accepted the offer from the Gloucestershire Club which was made to him while he was on tour with the New Zealand cricket team in England. He received a cablegram yesterday morning, and now intends to apply to the New Zealand Cricket Council for a transfer. He expects to leave in March, and probably will be away from New Zealand for at least four years. It is also likely that Dacre will play Association football during the winter months in England. He has frequently represented New Zealand on the " Soccer ” field. His loss to Auckland cricket will be a very heavy one, as he has done a great deal towards improving the game in New Zealand, and his brilliant batting has been a powerful magnet, thus building up gates. Probably no transfer is necessary, but as a matter of courtesy Dacre’ will apply to the New Zealand Cricket Council. NO OBJECTION TO TRANSFER. NEW ZEALAND COUNCIL’S ATTITUDE. (Special to Daily Times.) CHRISTCHURCH, November 28. No objection has been raised by the New Zealand Cricket Council to the transfer to Gloucestershire of C. C. Dacre, who has accepted an offer to play for that county. At its meeting this evening the following cablegram, dated November 22, was received from the Gloucestershire Cricket Club, Bristol:—“Kindly cable consent Dacre qualifying Gloucestershire and inform Dacre.” The secretary, Mr J. F. Peake, reported having sent the following reply:—“lf Dacre applies council agrees.” He had sent a letter to Dacre reading as follows:—"Any application you may make to the council will receive the favourable consideration of the Management Committee.” TOO MUCH DAYLIGHT. HOURS OF PLAY CURTAILED. (Special vc Daily Times.) , OHRISTHURCH, November 28. Cricketers in Canterbury have decided that fchev can have too much even of a good thing. When the Summer Tune Act was passed it was decided that all matches should be continued till 7.30 p.m. Players have found the long afternoon laborious and the late hour of stopping irksome, and this evening the Canterbury Association revised the hours of play. In future / the senior A and senior b matches will cease at 7 p.m. and all other matches at 6.30 p.m. with a compulsory afternoon tea adjournment.
