HUTT ROAD SLIP.

HEAVY QUANTITY OF SPOIL' REMOVED. (Special to Dailx Times.) WELLINGTON, November 9. A short report upon the progress of clearing the Hutt road slip was made to members of the local Highways Board to-day It was stated that more . than 3,'>,0110 cubic yards of spoil had been removed, and that another fortnight would be required to complete the job. Of the 35,000 yards the greater part had been carried in lorries and dumped in the Thorndon reclamation area. The Railways Department was paying for that filling at '.he rate of 9d per cubic yard. Allowing for the railway rebate, the cost first and last would be in the vicinity of £4OOO.
