NATIONALISTS CLAIM VICTORY. RAILWAY CENTRE CAPTURED. (Tret. Association—By Telegraph—OopyrignS SHANGHAI, November 8. (Received Nov. 9, at 11 p.m.) The Nationalists claim a major victory at Liuho, Honan, following five days' fighting. Feng-yuh-siang reports the capture of four armoured trains with 20,000 prisoners, 45 cannon, 100 trench mortars, and a similar number of machine guns. Hv also states that he has reached within tliee miles outside Hsuchowfu, an important strategic railway centre, and by ers that ho will sweep Shantung clear of Northerners within a fortnight. The report is of purely Nationalist origin, but in the absence of a Northern report it is probably true.—Sydney Sun Cable. WHITE RUSSIANS IN HARBIN. RED FLAGS TRAMPLED ON. TOKIO, November 8. Ten thousand White Russians in Harbin paraded, and hooted the Soviet Consulate. They tore red flags from Soviet shops and houses, and trampled them underfoot. They also scattered handbills urging the Chinese authorities' to expel the Jews as breeders of trouble. There ’were numerous White and Red clashes, with both at times coming in conflict with the police.—Sydney Sun Cable.
