The Kamo arrived at Dunedin last evening from Auckland, via Lyttelton, with general cargo and a quantity of Island fruit. After discharge the Kamo will undergo survey at Port Chalmers. The Wlngatul sailed last night for Timaru, Wellington, and Plcton to complete loading for Auckland. The C. A. Larsen Is expected this morning at Port Chalmers to take in fresh water and supplies before proceeding to Ross Sea, via Stewart Island. The Waiporl has been delayed at Bluff owing to rain and a shortage of railway trucks. She Is now expected at Dunedin to-morrow to discharge a quantity of coal and load general cargo for Westport. The Holmdalo arrived here yesterday morning from Wanganui and Wellington, and, after discharging a quantity of general cargo, went to Port Chalmers to undergo annual survey. She will load at Dunedin about Monday next for way ports and Wanganui. The American steamer West Nivarla sailed yesterday morning for Castlecllft (Wanganui), where the remainder of her Pacific Coast cargo will be discharged. She will afterwards proceed direct to San Francisco. The Turaklna will go to Port Chalmers this evening to continue Homeward loading. The Kahika is to leave Gisborne on Saturday or Monday for Dunedin. She will load general cargo here on November 17 for Napier and Gisborne. The C. and D.’ Line steamer Port Hardy is due at Auckland to-day from London, via Panama. The vessel is carrying general cargo for discharge at Auckland and Wellington. The American steadier West Henshaw arrived at Auckland on Tuesday morning from Pacific Coast ports. From Auckland the vessel will proceed to Melbourne and Eastern ports. The Kurow was to leave BluS on Tuesday for Pori Craig. She will return from the latter port to BluS, then proceeding to Dunedin, Wellington, and Auckland. The American steamer West Cajoot, instead of the West Sequana, is fixed to leive Los Angeles on January 3 with . general cargo to discharge at Auckland, Wellington, Timaru and Dunedin. The Kairanga was due at Wellington yesterday from Sydney and Newcastle, via Gisborne and Napier. On completing discharge the vessel will leave for Newcastle, to load coal for Wellington, thence to Hobart, to load timber for Dunedin, Lyttelton and Wellington The Waiotapu, from Sydney, was due .at Suva on Tuesday. She proceeds thence on November 15 for Fanning Island, Vancouver and San Francisco. The R.M.S. Makura left San Francisco on November 2 for Papeete, Rarotonga, Wellington, and Sydney. She is due at Papeete on November 12 and at Wellington on November 21. The ketch Miro lost her bowsprit In a strong north-west squall off Castlepoint on October 19, when she was en route from Auckland to Wellington. The vessel escaped without further damage. Favourable comment was made at Bluff last Saturday when Captain G. B. Morgan in comfnand of the Manuka having arrived too late for the morning tide did not wait for the following slack'water about 3.30 p.m., but brought the steamer in and berthed her at 1.30 p.m., thus saving her passengers two hours of waiting. TONGARIRO DUE TO-MORROW. Messrs Turnbull, Martin, and Co, advise that the Tongatiro is now due at Dunedin to-morrow morning from Liverpool, via north ern ports, to discharge the remainder of her Homo cargo. KEKERANGU LEAVES ADELAIDE. The Union Company advises that the Kekerangu,. which loaded South Australian products at Edithberg, Whllorob, and Adelaide, left the latter port at noon on Saturday last for Dunedin direct She is due on Monday, and will proceed later to Lyttelton, Wellington, Cast loci iff, New Plymouth and Auckland to complete discharge. TBEMEADOW PROM fi NEW YORK. Messrs Turnbull, Martin, and Co. advise that the A. and A. Line’s chartered steamer Tremeadow is expected at Dunedin on Tuesday from Timaru to discharge the remainder of her assorted freight from New York. PHOSPHATES FROM OCEAN ISLAND Carrying phosphates for discharge at Lyttelton and Port Chalmers, the steamer Sutherland sailed from Ocean Island on November 3. She is due at Lyttelton about November 16. WAIKOUAITI LEAVES SYDNEY. Advice received by the Union Company states that the Waikouaiti left Sydney at 4 p.m. on Tuesday with general cargo for discharge at Bluff, Dunedin, Lyttelton and Timaru. Her freight for this port includes transhipments ex the Kolu, City of Palermo, St. Albans, Orvieto, Cathay, Madras Maru, Otranto. Yugaren, and Almkerk. The Waikouaiti Is due here next Tuesday. ATHENIC LEAVES BALBOA. Cabled news baa been received by the Shaw-Savill Company that the Athenic, en route from Liverpool to Auckland, left Balboa last Friday evening. The vessel is due at Auckland on November 25. She is carrying cargo for discharge at Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton and Port Chalmers. POOLTA FROM AUSTRALIA. The Union Company advises that the Poolta was due at Clarence River on Saturday, to commence loading timber for Wellington, Timaru, Dunedin and Greymouth. The vessel will complete-at Port Stevens and Newcastle, and is expected to clear the latter port on November 14. HOEORATA BRINGING PASSENGERS. The New Zealand Shipping Company has received advice that the Hororata, which sailed from Southampton on October 28, is bringing general merchandise from London, and also 206 third class passengers for Now Zealand. A striking and Interesting book entitled " The Port of London Yesterday and To-day," has Just been published. The work is by D. J. Owen, general manager to the Port of London Authority. The book tells a story which should appeal to all those citizens of the British Empire at Home and overseas who are, so closely Interested in the facilities provided by the Port of London for the reception and handling of their produce. The book traces the steps by which London, as a port, has acquired its position of pre-eminence, and it shows that those who have controlled the port during recent years have provided, and continue to provide, the extensions and improvements which its ever-growing trade constantly demands. The publication is profusely Ulus trated, showing views of the docks as far back as 1827 and of the present day, together with vqfy fine sketch plans of the large docks, and a striking coloured picture of the head office of the Port of London Authority in Trinity square.

Destined for service in the fleet of the Lyttelton Launch Ferry Company, the 471 t launch Awaka has been completed at the yards of Messrs Ceilings and Bell, Auckland, and was launched on Monday. The vessel, which is intended for passenger and towing work at Lyttelton, is stoutly built of kauri, and has a beam of 12ft and an over all width of loft. The power plant is a 40 h.p. four-cylinder internal combustion engine. The launch, which has been surveyed and registered in Auckland, has been shipped as deck cargo for Lyttelton by the Union Company’s steamer Waipiata. PASSENGERS BY THE ORMONDE.
