MIDDLEMARCH NOTES.
(From Oob Own Correspondent.) MIDDLEMARCH, 'November 8. THE WEATHER. Steady rain set in cn Sunday night, and continued all day yesterday, so that the ground rcec.vcd a good soaking which was very beneficial as rhe surface of the I ground was. very dry. It was a good growing rain, and the following day being very hot, the grass came away wonderfully. FARMING MATTERS. Stock in the district is doing well and tho mortality in lambs has practically ceased. •Farmers are busy getting in tnr* nips, tho bulk of the swede crop is being sown. SCHOOLCHILDREN AND SUMMER' TIME. The Summer Time Act seems Jo b« woiKiag fairly well, with the exception of the school. A good deal of dissatisfaction is expressed among the mothers, as the children do not go into school until 10 o’clock and get out at 12.30, which causes a late hour for dinner. They return to school at 1.30 and finish for the day at 4.30. The complaint is that the children, have to wait too long for their dinners. The other schools in tna district, Ngapuna. and Sutton, will both begin the day at 9.30 and get out for dinner at 12 o’clock,' ■which is a reasonable time. It would bo much better if the Middlemaroh School Committee would fall into line with the other schools.
