MONTHLY MEETING. The Otago Land Board held a sitting yesterday, when there were present Messrs It. S. Galbraith (chairman), C. J. Inder, James .Smith George Livingstone and T. A. Munro. APPLICATIONS FOR LAND. W. L. Corrigall applied for an orca of land in Block VII, Lauder district, which was included in the area held under grazing license by Mrs Mary Ryan.—Tho application was declined. J. J. Waldron applied for a grazing license ovei an area of Crown Land in Muttontown Gully between the Otago Central Railway and tho Clutha River.— Yearly license granted at an annual rental of 10s. Field' Inspector .Simpson submitted a further report upon the applications of R. H. Garrett and Mrs Russell for a grazing right over sections 36 and 37, Block 1, town of Kelso (2a 2r 12p).—Mr Garrett’s application was declined, and Mrs Russell was granted a yearly license at an annual rental of 10s. Field Inspector Simpson reported in con ncction with Charles M'Govern’s opplication for a yearly license over an area in Block VII, Tuapoka West Survey District.—Mr M‘Govern to be offered a license at an annual rental of 10s. William Burgess Duff applied to purchase closed, road, Section 1295 r. Township of Helensbrough (Balcluthah— Granted at a price of £2O. The Commissioner submitted a report by the Field Inspector on 109 acres, being part of auriferous reserve in block 11, Highlay Survey District,—Mr James O’Connell to be offered a yearly license at an annual rental of £4 10s. Field Inspector Meo reported on an area of 24 acres being part of auriferous reserve m block 11, Highlay Survey District.—Mr Robinson to be offered a yearly license at the annual rental of £1 The field inspector reported on the Education Reserve, section I of 47 block VI, Clarendon S.D.. area 50 acres.—Lease for a term of 21 years, with right of renewal, to be offered for sale by public auction at an annual upset rental of £2 ss, the improvements to be paid for in cash, PERMISSION TO CULTIVATE. James Cairns applied for permission to cultivate portion of the area held under M.L. 2610 over part of Matakanui mining reserve in block VII t Lauder Granted, provided the land is afterwards sown down in permanent pasture to the satisfaction of the field inspector. _ J. F. Smith applied for permission to cultivate part of the aiea held under miscellaneous license 3385 over stations . do, 25, 26 and 28, block I, Wakefield S.D.— Granted, subject to the favourable report of the field inspector, and to the condition that the land is afterwards sown down in permanent pasture. . EXEMPTION FROM RESIDENCE. The question of exemption from residence in the case of William H Peddie lessee of section 78 block I, Highlay S.D., was considered, and exemption for 12 months was granted. APPOINTMENT OF ARBITRATOR. R P. Smith holder on pastoral license of sections 47 and 48, block I. Cr< /° ks *°’J S. (565 a 3r 14p) notified that he objected to the rental placed on the land for the purpose of a renewed lease, that he wished such rental to be fixed by arbitration, and that he had appointed Mr Duncan M'Lennan aa his arbitrator.—Mr James Begg was appointed arbitrator for the baard ‘ TUSSOCK BURNING, W P. Cameron applied for permission to burn tussock on Aviemore Station, run 243 E, Waitaki County, and section 3, block ■II, Otamatakau.—Action of the commission in granting permission confirmed. DISBURSEMENT OF VALUATION D FOR IMPROVEMENTS. . The disbursement of the valuation of the improvements on section p 3, block l, Bannockburn S.D., was considered, and the receiver of land revenue was authorised to pay the money to Mr D. R. Corson. AMENDMENT OF PREVIOUS RESOLUTION. Field Inspector Mee reported that some land had been taken off the area in the town of Komako granted on grazing license to A. Gregory, and recommended that the rental be fixed at £7 instead of £9 per annum, as previously decided.— Resolution of the board amended accordinelv INCREASE OF RENTAL. Field Inspector Simpson reported on the question of the rental on sections 21 and 22, block I, Waitahuna West S.D. (5 acres), held by A. M'Corkindale under grazing license, the present rental of which is 10s per annum. —Rental increased to 15s per annum as from September 14, 1927. . ... He also reported on the rental on section 179, block I, Waitahuna West S.D. (10a 3r 14p), held by the Tuapeka Sale Yards Company under a license from year to year at an annual rental of 10s.—Rental increased to £3 10s per annum as from April 13, 1928. , He also reported on the rental of an area of 15 acres in block I, Waitahuna West S.D., held by A. M’Corkindale under grazing license, the present rental of which is £1 per annum. —Rental increased to 25s per annum as from September 13, 1927. The Commissioner submitted the report by the field inspector after reviewing the rental payable on miscellaneous license 2221 over part section 41, block I, Pomahaka S.D., held by the Clutha County Council. —Rental increased to £1 per annum as from April 12, 1928. “THIRDS," ETC. The Maniototo County Council submitted proposals for the expenditure of “ thirds ” accrued for the period ended July 31, 1927, amounting to £69 11s 2d.— Approved. _ Tife. Tuapeka County Council submitted proposals for the expenditure of “ thirds,” etc., accrued for the period ended July 31, 1927, amounting to £l2 12s 9d.—Approved. “FIFTHS” FROM FOREST REVENUE.
