BRITISH IMMIGRANTS
WANTED IN ARGENTINA. NEWSPAPER’S WARM TRIBUTE. CPreaß Association —By Telegraph—Copyright ) BUENOS AIRES, October 19. The newspaper La Prensa voiced the demand that the Government take active steps to effect the immigration of British people into the Argentina. It urges the desirability of British immigrants, and calls attention to the unemployment in Britain. The newspaper states: “Britain’s surplus population is our lack. Our need of immigrants is not so peremptory that we must sacrifice quality for quantity. The incorporation of British people into Argentine society has always had happy results. The British in Argentina have never played collective politics, and have always had an ingrained respect for the law; and, while they have conserved a deep affection for their Homeland, they have never been morbidly or noisily patriotic.’’ The newspaper deplores what it terms the Government’s lack of initiative in attracting British immigrants.—A. and N.Z. Cable.
