On the grass Piastoon did a mile in Imin 50sec, and Finsbury beat Pentola over nine furlongs in Imin 59;]sec. Vaals covered six furlongs in Imm and Ash Queen four furlongs in SOsec. Seventh Heaven, going better than Byron, did six furlongs in Imin 17Jsec. Ninbela covered a mile in Imin 45|sec, and Quirk beat Abdera over five furlongs in Imin 4sec. Cairucross did 10 furlongs in 2min 28sec on the tau, and Treylon and Trivalve went six furlongs in Imin 20£sec. Bard of Avon and Corsamalzie ran nine furlongs in 2min 4sec. At Caulfield, Silvius beat Shavian over a mile in Imin 50sec. Devonshire and Mote went seven furlongs in Imin 34sec. Killara did a mile in Imin 48sec, and Affirm did five furlongs in Imin 4lsec. Imitator did 10 furlongs on the sand in 2rain 14sec. Cheosan and Impartial went six furlongs in Imin ISJsec. Tookarby did three furlongs in 38sec. SCRATCHINGS FOR CUPS. For the Caulfield Cup, All Sunshine, St. Lazar, and Jedburgh have been scratched; for the Melbourne Cup, Jedburgh; and for the Caulfield Guineas, Tarquinish. W. Duncan rides Metellus and H. Jones Vaals in the Toorak Handicap. Winalot and Ramulus will arrive in Melbourne next week. E. Bartle is coming to Melbourne to ride Mr Eric Conolly’s horses. He arrives on Tuesday.
