VANZETTI'S ASHES.

TO THE EDITOR.

Sin.—The heading of a cable. “ Murderers Ashes” in this morning’s Daily Times demands an apology. The murder, if there was one, was committed by the United States Department of Justice in committing to the electric chair, after a needlessly long-drawn-out agony, two working men who iverc admitted to be not guilty by even partial-minded opponents and declared by informed impartial people to be innocent. Tho counsel of the Morclli brothers admitted that the crime was committed by these men, and Madeiros has confessed to participation in the Braintree murder. The words of Judge Thayer himself show doubt even in the mind of tho judge. " This man Vanzetti, though he may not have actually committed the crime attributed to him, is morally culpable, because he is tho enemy of the existing institutions. ’ The last words in this indictment would inculpate every reformer throughout the ages.— I am, etc., Mary M’Cakthv, Dunedin, October 6,
