MOVEMENT IN SYDNEY. EXHIBITS OF GREAT INTEREST, (Pro's Association—By Telegraph—Copyright ) SYDNEY, September 13. The newspapers are devoting considerable space to the authors’ week movement for the promotion of Australian literature. The Minister of Education (Mr W. Davies) opened an exhibition covering ori ginal manuscripts of Australian authors, samples of publications, and manv other exhibits oj historic and literary interest Mr Davies urged that it was the dutv of Australians to encourage their own authors and publishers. He claimed that the work done bv them was equal to any in (ho world. Showing the growth of the hook trade here, lie said that during the past 12 months 335,000 books were published in the Commonwealth, approximately one for every 20 people.
