FOOTBALL DINNER.

A dinner was given the Maori footballers at the Queen’s Hotel last evening. There was a representative gathering over which Mr C. Mollison presided. After dinner the following toasts were honoured: —“The King,” “Returned Soldiers’ Association,’’ proposed by Mr Frank Milner, and responded to by General Sir Andrew Russell”; “The New Zealand Rugby Union,” proposed by Mr H. U. Crater, and responded to by Mr H. Parata; “The Maori Football Team,” proposed by Mr Crowley and responded to by Mr Tawhini”; “The Borough Council," proposed by Mr Holmes and responded to by Mr F. Crawshaw (Mayor); “The Referee,” proposed by Mr Kingi and responded to by Mr Direen ; “The Chairman,” proposed by Mr C. W. Kent and responded to by Mr C. Mollison. Musical items were rendered by Messrs Hook, Roxburgh, and Kingi.
