AN ESCAPED PRISONER.
ARRESTED ON CHARGE OF FRAUD. (Peb United Pirns Association.) NELSON, July 20. At the Ma.’istiutc’s Court to-day George Edward Welch wa? charged with escaping from the Waikune prison. The accused was arrested Inst week under tho name of Clarence Clancy, and was ordered to comp up for sentence when called upon on charges of issuing valueless cheques. The police later discovered that tho accused had escaped from prv/u, and he was again arrested and remanded to appear at Wellington on Wednesday.
