VISIT OF INSPECTION. RAILWAY OFFICIAL IMPRESSED. (Special to Daily Times.) AUCKLAND, May 17. After visiting Australia to investigate the train control system of the various States, on behalf of the Railways Department, Mr E. S. Brittendcn, of the head office, returned by the Ulimaroa. While declining to make a full statement in the absence of his colleague, Mr .1. W. M. Smith, who collaborated in the investigations, and will not return from Australia until next week, Mr Brittendcn said much valuable information had been gathered. lie thought a system of train control similar to that operated in Australia would be introduced in New Zealand in a small way at first, and extended afterwards.
