LEAGUE CRICKET. PORT CHALMERS CLUB. To celebrate the winning of the League cricket cup, the Port Chalmers Club held an informal social gathering on Monday night. Mr W. Corbett presided. The visitors included Mr W. M'Lean, president of the Otago Provincial Cricket League, Mr M. Anderson and Mr H. Williamson. Mr T. Anderson (Mayor) and representatives of the local sports bodies were also present. Mr M'Lean congratulated the club on winning the cup, and he expressed the hope that the other clubs would also resolve to distinguish themselves as the Port Chalmers Club had done. WINDBAG CHANGES HANDS. A HIGH FIGURE INDICATED. (Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright.) . SYDNEY, May 17. Windbag has been purchased by Mi A. Hunter, of Seymore, Victoria, for stud purposes. A report states that the price paid for Windbag is the second highest ever paid for a colonial-bred sire. Another report says that the price exceeded that paid for Carbine, which was 13,000 guineas.
