SHEEP STEALING.
FARM MANAGER CHARGED. ACCUSED COMMITTED FOR SENTENCE. (Pee Exited Press Association.) DANEYIRKE, May Before justices of tfie peace at Dannevirke this morning George William Mit* c-hell, manager of a sheep farm at Oringi, who was proceeded against by George Duncan Beatson, pleaded guilty to four charges of stealing 20l sheep, valued at £250 18s sd; and also to tv.o charges of stealing wool and sheepskins valiant at £93 4s 3d, the total value being £329 2s Bd. the evidence snouvu mat uio sheep and skins had been consigned to Palmerston North, Pahiatua, Feilding, and Daunevirko for sale by the accused, who received and retained the proceeds. When he was first charged th e accused said that the sheep had been sold to pay the scrubcutteis on the farm, but subsequently he admitted that this was incorrect. He said that he was sorry for what he had dune, ami attributed his action to having purchased a motor car, and having found the payments and upkeep too much for him. The accused was committed for sentence at Napier. Bail was refused.
