CENTRAL OTAGO REPORT. (Fbom Oub Own Cobeespondenx.) OPHIR, May 3. The report of the Ophir meteorological station for the month of April is as follows:—■ Average reading of barometer at D a.m., 29.84 in; highest (cn Ist), 30.40 in; lowest (on 25th), 29.28 in; extreme range, 1.12iu. Average shade temperature at 9 a.m., 48.7 deg (March 54.5 deg); highest (18th), 64.0d0g; lowest (30th), 34.6 deg. Dry-bulb temperature in shade (screen): Average maximum, 58,8 deg (1926, 64.6 deg); average minimum. 37-ldeg (1926, 43.6 deg); mean for the month, 47.9 deg (1926, 54.1 deg). ' The extreme maximum was 72.5 deg on the 17th; extreme minimum, 24.9 deg on the 30th. Wet-bulb readings: Average maximum, SO.Odeg; average minimum, 33.7 deg; approximate mean, 42.8 deg. Average daytime humidity, 50 per cent, of saturation.

Maximum temperature in sun: Average, 86.0 deg (March, 96.9 deg); highest, 116.0 deg on the 17th; lowest, 52.0 deg on the 7th. Above lOOdeg Fab. was recorded on seven days and below TO.OOdeg on four days. Minimum ground temperature: Average, 28.6 deg (March 34.8 deg); lowest, 17.0 deg on the 30th. The temperature fell below freezing on 20 nights (March, 12; February 10 nights). Average clearness of sky: 9 a.m., 61 per cent.; 10 p.m., 66 per cent. Recorded at 9, a.m., 16 days were calm, 4 days N., one day N.E., three days S.W., two days W., four days N.W. High winds occurr.i ' on the sth, 22nd, 23rd, 27th, and 28th. The rainfall was as follows: —6th, 19 points; 10th, 2 points: 24th, 49 points; 28th, 1 point; total, .71in on four days (April 1920, 1.04 m; 1925, 1.43 in; 1924, 2.90 in). Light falls of snow occurred on the Dunstan Range on the Bth and 28th. A light shower of bail fell at 10 a.m. on the 11th. The temperature and rainfall for thf month were considerably below normaL
