(From Ode Own Correspondent.) MILTON, May 2. MOTOR REGULATIONS. The Bruce County Council proceeded against Horatio M. M‘Kay, of the White Star Motors, at Friday’s sitting of the Magistrate’s Court here, on a charge of a breach of the Motor Regulations Act, in having the luggage on a motor bus projecting beyond the footboard. Mr R. M. Rutherford appeared for the County Council, and Mr Simpson (Dunedin) for the dcfendant company. The facts were admitted, and an argumont ensued on the question whether certain hinged luggage (wards, which were affixed to the running board, and which were dropped when not in use for carrying passengers’ luggage, constituted an infringement of the regulations. The luggage had not projected beyond these binged luggage carriers. ’File bodies of the motor buses bad been built in Christchurch, with these hinged boards affixed when leaving the manufacturers’ works. Decision was reserved. RUGBY FOOT-BALL. The winter pastime will start in earnest on Saturday afternoon in Soutli Otago, when the South Otago Sub-union’s banner fixtures will bo commenced. The Toko Club three teams engaged this season, and on Saturday the fi Vt grade members will visit Clinton, the second grade will meet Clutba at Milton, and _ the third grade team will journey to Kaitaneata to play a match against against Crescent. The Union Club has decided to discontinue the insurance of players owing to the increased rates quoted by the insurance companies. Last season the club received only £4- in insurance rates for i.ijurcd players at the end of the season. The following fixtures have been arranged for the third grade cup Saturday, May 7: Clu’ba v. South Otago High School, at Balclutha; Toko v. Orescent, at Kaitangato. Saturday, May 14: Clutba v. Toko, at Milton: Crescent v. High School, at Balclntha. Saturday. May 21: Ciutha v. Cre'cent, at Balclutha; High School toko, at Milton. The second round of fixtures is a reversa. of the foregoing.
