ENTERPRISING FARMERS
COMMITTEE OF INVESTIGATION. AGRICULTURAL PRACTICES IN EUROPE. (Proa Association—By Telegraph* -Copyright.) NEW YORK, May 1. Five hundred farmers from 45 States are sailing on July 30, under the direction of the American Farm and Bureau Federation, with the co-operation of the Department of Agriculture, to visit seven European countries to determine agricultural conditions and methods of marketing, also irrigation in Denmark, large-scale drainage in Holland, reforestation in Germany, terracing in the Rhineland, landscape gardening m England and France, and waste land reclamation and dairying in several of the Scandinavian countries. The farmers will spend seven weeks in their studies, which include visits to 43 cities to sea the disposal of agricultural products to the consumer. The trip is the outgrowth of experts’ surveys, indicating that many successful agricultural practices in Europe are probably adaptable to American conditions, and ii Is desired that th e farmers should make* first-hand investigations. —A. and N.Z.
