In spite of the inclement weather, there was a fair attendance of members at the monthly meeting of. the Loyal Tapamii Lodge on Thursday last. N.G. Bro. J. M’Auley presided. Bro H. J. Hay wrote tendering his resignation as treasurer, which was received with regret. P.G. Bro. R. A. Rodger, who is now permanently settled in Wellington, wrote resigning his position as auditor. It was resolved that a be forwarded to Bro. Rodger thanking him for all his past services to the lodge. It was resolved to hold over until next meeting night the report of the delegates who attended the district meeting, which was held recently at Cromwell. It was agreed to recommend to the hall trustees to make some necessary alterations to the building. STOCK SALE. Messrs Dalgety and Co. (lAd.) held a stock sale in their yards on Friday, when, notwithstanding the inclement weather, there was a good attendance of local farmers. Fair prices were made for all the sheep which wore yarded. On behalf of Mr D. Robertson a pair of Romney rams was submitted, but they failed to reach the owner’s reserve, and were passed in at 4gns. The following prices wore realised: Forward wether lambs, 19s 3d. IBs 2d; store wether lambs, 17s; M.S. lambs, 15s, 11s 3d; aged ewes fetched 16s down to 10s 6d. RUGBY FOOTBALL. The Rugby football season was opened on Saturday in ideal weather, when the loeal team journeyed to Horiot and, to everybody’s surprise, defeated tbc Heriot team by 14 points to 8 points. Tries were scored for Tapamii by M’Auley. Rodger and Whifelev, one of which was converted bv Edgar, who also kicked a penalty goal. For the losers Ottrey scored a try which be converted, and the same player also kicked a ponaltv goal.
