OTAGO A. AND P. SOCIETY
WINTER SHOW. The committee of the Otago A. and P. Society has received an application from aeveral farmers in the Hokitika district who are anxious to make a display of turnips, mangolds, roots, etc., at the Winter Show. The committee has decided to offer these farmers every assistance, and the display of roots 'from that district should make an interesting comparison with the roots that have been exhibited here for some time past. It is to be hoped that the farmers in the Clutha, Taieri, and other districts, who pride thpiriselvw on the quality of turnips they grow will see that their districts are well represented. The society has received 61 entries in the cheese and 24 entries in the butter sections for competition at the show. The entries for these classes are stored in the Otago Producers' cool stores for a period of six weeks, and when indeed and exhibited at the show thev should be as near as possible in the same condition as if the produce had been shipped and placed on the London market.
