MANCHESTER UNITY.

The members of the Loyal Princess Mary Lodge, at their last meeting, which was held at the Forbury Corner Hall, had again the pleasure of initiating candidates and receiving proposals for membership. The feature of the evening was a report of the district meeting presented by the lodge’s delegate. Sister Dunlop. Her report embraced almost all of the matter discussed, and it was listened to with interest. After Per. Sec. Bro. Lunam had supplemented the delegate’s report. Sister Dunlop received thanks from the members for her services. The ritual competition was postponed until further notice, and it was decided to hold an open musical evening at the next meeting of the lodge. N.G. Bro. Lazarus presided over a good attendance of members at the Loyal Dunedin Lodge, when proposals for membership were received. Arrangements were made for the first ladies’ evening of the winter season, and it was decided to hold it on the next meeting of the lodge. A number of visiting brethren attended, .including the District Executive. Feeling reference to the landing at Gallipoli on April 25, 1915, was made by Prov. G.M. Bro. Stabb and P.G. Arnold, after which members stood in silence. The delegates to the district meeting gave an elaborate report of the proceedings, and were thanked for their services. The newlyelected Prov. G.M., Bro. Stabb, was formally introduced, and in reply gave an interesting account of the affairs of the district. D.P.G.M. Bro. W. J. Johnstone was also given a special welcome, and the district officers, in responding, stressed the great success of the recent district meetin*Loyal Prince of Wales Juveniles had the pleasure of being introduced to the newly-elected Prov. D.G.M., Bro. W. J. Johnstone, whoso election to the high position gave the boys much pleasure. The toast of the District Executive was in consequence given with special fervour. Bro. Johnstone expressed thanks in a feeling manner, P.G. Bro. Campbell gave the boys a lucid explanation of the business of the district meeting, and explained Jhe nature of the decision arrived at in such a way that a distinct impression was made on their minds. The reception of the newly elected Prov. D.G.M., Bro. W. J. Johnstone, by his own lodge, the Loyal Prince of Wales, was a. specially hearty one. I.P.G.M. Bro. Clarke formally introduced Bro. Johnstone, and then congratulated h’m on his election. Bro. Johnstone’s services to the lodge and order had been lengthy, and he had at all times been an arduous worker. His work as Per. Secretary of the lodge and m connection with the proposed, hospital scheme had been of great value. _ The Prov. G.M. Bro. P. Stabb was then introduced, a nd ho addressed the members present on general matters. P.P.G.M. Bro. A. M. Wylie also added his congratulations to the newly-elected officers and to the Loyal Prince of Wales on its progress. After three candidates had been duly initiated and 10 more proposed, the delegates to the district meeting gave their report. The Loyal Cavorsham Lodge meeting, which was held at Forburv Corner Hall, was very well attended, G.M. Bro. Grant presiding. The resignation of Iv.G. Bro. Jackson, who had left the town, was received with regret, and after consideration the offer of G.M. Grant to occupy the chair for the balance of the term was accepted. Early in the evening P.P.G.M. Bro. G. Clarke took the opportunity of Presenting the newly-elected Prov. G.M., Bro. P. Stabb to the members. The Prov. G.M., in addressing the members and thanking them for their hearty reception, briefly reviewed some important features of the district meeting. Ha specially commended the work of the lodge’s delegates, P.G. Bro. Hey and Lunam. Bro. Hay’s advocacy of the claims of the juvenile movement as presented by him to the district meeting reoeivccl special commendation, and Ins con* sistont support of that phase of the wor was stated to bo of inestimiable value to the district. The installation of the newlyelected Per. Seo. of the lodge, Bro. Soimess, was carried out. by P-P G.M. Bro. Clark PGM Bro. Stabb, and P.P.G.M. Bro. J. Wilson. The Prov. G.M. made eulogistic reference to Bro. SonnoFs’s 25 years of scrvice. 18 of which he had acted as Treasurer. A. degree meeting was also conducted by P.P.G.M. Bro. Clarke. Several proposals for membership were received and arrangements were completed for the. social evening to bo tendered to the retiring Per. Sec., Bro. H. Eonfree on May 11. ■ There was a largo attendance of members and visitors at a special meeting of Loyal Albion Lodge. After routine business a social evening was held in honour of the elevation of Bro Stabb, of , T '°yal Ahnon lodge, to the Prov. G.M.’? chair. P.P.G.M. Bro. R. S. Black presided over a well attended function, and was supported by members of the District Executive and Bro. Taverner. P.P.G.M. Bro. Cable proposed the toast of the executive. Prov. G.M. Bro. Ptahb, on rising to respond, was received with enthusiasm, his elevation to the P G.M.’s chair proving immensely popular, hi renlv Bro. Ptahb naid a tribute to the work of the Surplus Committee. The out ■ standing desire had been to do good with the money that thev were fortunate enough to po=?o=s. It was their desire not orily !o relieve eases of distress, but to seek out oeeasion to do so. Prov. D.P.G.M. Bro. Johnston was also accorded a welcome. Bro. Sullivan, cn hehalf of the Loval Alb-on Lodge, presented P.P.G.M. Bro, R. S. Black with a cot, for his newlv-arrivcd son as a tribute of esteem of his long and valuod services. In responding to the toast of the “Old Member?,” P.P.G.M. Pro. E. S. Clarke, sen., spoke _ interestingly, and Bro. Carrington eomnliiriented Bro. Stabb on tbe honours bestowed on him. P.S. Bro. D.
