CUSTOMS RETURNS.
THE CTIRISipiJURCII FIGURES. (Pbb United Pbess Associ. ion.) CHRISTCHURCH, Mav 1. Tlkj Customs duties collected in Christchurch for April show a shrinkage from the figures of April of last year, but there has been an increase in the amount received for beer duties. There is very little change in the figures for the meat export levy, but a very substantial increase was recorded in respect of dairy and produce levy. The following figures show the position : 1927. 1926. £ s. d. £ B. a. (Feb United Pp.ess Association. i WELLINGTON. April 3C. The Customs .revenue in Wellington for Aprii was £160,644 compared with £201,673 for April of last year. The beer duty was £4OOI against £3346 for the corresponding period of last year. THE LOCAL RETURNS. The Customs returns for the month of April were as follows Customs duty, £54,075 15s 5d : beer duty, £17,899 16s sd. For April of last year the figures wore: Customs duty £83.152 15s Id; beer duty, £13,176 12s 2d. There is, consequently, a reduction for tbo month of £29.077 in C”- , o' and o. falling o2 in the beer duty of £277.
