Tho lot of tho farmer is not always a happy one, and a letter received at i lmr.>day's, meeting of tho Waitemata Power Board indicated that one Glen Eden settler was not content with the conditions he has to labour undo r (states tho Auckland Star). In making an application for the extension of tho board’s linos to his property, ho complained that, while he was running 46 cows on 06 acres, ho had no electricity, whereas a neighbour, with a large area, uncleared, enjoyed a good service, because ho r' -iiled close to the road. Ho maintained that this preferential treatment was not encouraging to settlement. “If farmers are treated like this, is there any wonder that people flock to tho towns ’’ he asked. The chairman (Mr -I. W. Hayden) said the board could not make the extension for on» perron, ami the engineer was instructed to interview the settler and explain tho situation.
