BOARD’S LONDON AGENCY. RESIGNATION OF MR PATERSON. (Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright.) LONDON, April 5. (Received April 6, at 6.6 p.m.) Mr Stronach Paterson has written to Sir James Parr resigning his position as Government representative on me London agency of the Now Zealand Dairy Control Board. The letter points out that Mr Paterson discussed tno matter fully with Mr Coates last November, and quotes Mr Paterson’s letter to Mr Coates on November 8, suggesting that tho only course open to the writer was to continue his work as opportunity offered for such a modification of the machinery of control as might mitigate the bad results he feared and for breaking down the prevailing hostility to New Zealand dairy produce, and also for the re-establishment of goodwill and co-operation in all branches of the dairy produce trade in this country. Mr Coates agreed to this. Mr Paterson also quotes his letter to Mr Coates on December 28, stating that he would consent to carry on his duties as long as he had Mr Mr Coates's confidence, of which Mr Coates assured him. Tho Prime Minister also expressed a wish that ho carry on with an understanding that he should continue the policy outlined on November 8, and this policy had since been scrupulously followed. In December Mr Paterson informed Mr Coates that it was impossible to carry on if Mr J, B. Wright were appointed to the London agency, and fully explained the reasons for his attitude. As Mr Wright has now been appointed from the date of the departure ot Messrs lorns and Motion towards the end of the month, Mr Paterson asks Sir James Parr to convey to the Prime Minister his desire to resign his position forthwith.— A. and N.Z. Cable. PRIME MINISTER RECEIVES RESIGNATION. (Special to Daily Times.) WELLINGTON, April 6. The Prime Minister received a telegram from the High Commissioner this afternoon to the effect that Mr Stronach Paterson, the Government representative on the London agency of the Dairy Produce Export Control Board had tendered his resignation. It is understood that Mr Paterson’s resignation is the result of Mr Wright’s appointment as a member of the London board. ANTI-CONTROL PRODUCERS. CANDIDATE FOR BOARD ELECTION. (Per United Press Association.) NEW PLYMOUTH, April 6. At a meeting of producers opposed to the control of dairy produce this afternoon it was decided ,to nominate Mr James Hino, of Tikorangi, as a candidate for No. 4 ward for the Control Board election. Tho meeting was convened by tho Free Marketing League.
