A LUCRATIVE SEASON.

WHALER’S RETURN. (Pee United Peess Association.) INVERCARGILL, March 28. The whaler C. A. Larsen arrived at Stewart Island on Sunday with 47,500 barrels of oil from the Ross Sea, valued at approximately £250,000. She reports heavy weather. On the return trip she visited Balleny Island, and found whales numerous there, securing 100 in 10 days. This new field in the warmer regions opens a possibility of a longer whaling season. Balleny has not been visited since 1830. The vessel proceeds to Wellington for a few days to replenish her oil fuel.
