DUNEDIN GUN CLUB.

Open handicap matches were held yesterday at the Green Island grounds and included visiting members from the Tirnaru, Palmerston and Invercargill gun clubs. The first match consisted of a £2 sweepstake handicap of 21 clay birds and the weather conditions being calm with an overcast skyline. some excellent performances wore tallied. Three competitors tied with the possible—namely, G. E, Turner (Dunedin; 13yds, 21 birds, all first barrel, J. Potts (Dunedin), 11yds, 21 birds (17 first barrel), G. J. Scott (Invercargill), 21 birds (18 first barrel) and divided the prize money. Eight competitors each secured 20 birds —namely, H. P. Graham, W. J. M'Culloch (Timn.ru), A. King. J. ML. Howe, J. A. Graham, IT. Smellie, R. M'Donald and R. MTlwrick (Titnaru). Before the luncheon adjournment a double rise sweepstake resulted m W. J. Harris, son. (Invercargill), R. M'Donald and N. R. Calloghan dividing the prize money. A 17 bird handicap sweepstake followed and W. J. Harris, jun. (Invercargill) 11yds, P. M'Donald (Tim am) llyclb, R. MTiwrick (Timaru) 18yds. H. M'Lay, 11yds and G. E. Turner 14yds, each broke 17 birds and divided the sweepstake. W. J. Harris, sen. (Invercargill), E. P. Graham, J. A. Graham, H. M'Donald, and L. E. Wilson each broke 16 birds. A further 17 bird sweepstake handicap followed and W. J. Harris, sen. (Invercargill) 11yds, J. M. Howe 11yds, J. A. Grahahm 13yds, R. M'Donald Hyde, and R. MTlwrich (Timaru) 19yds, each broke 17 birds and divided the prize money. E, P. Graham, W. J. M'Culloch (TimaJu), W. Smellie. A. King, J. Potts, H. Smellie, G. F/ Turner each broke 16 birds and J. H. Edmond _ 15 birds. The afternoon concluded with a first miss out sweepstake and atfer the sixteenth bird G. E. Turner, J. M. Howe, E! P. Graham, and J A. Graham agreed to divide. First barrel performances were in strong evidence throughout the day and in addition to G. E. Turner 70 out of 71 with only one second barrel and R. M'Tlwriek 54 out of 55 with only two second barrels, A. King, E. P. Graham. J. A. Graham, j. M. Howe and G. J. Scott (Invercargill) also did well. A round of applause greeted the juvenile shootist, W. •T. Harris, jun. (Invercargill), a youth of 16, when he gained his 17 birds. 14 of which were hv the first barrel. Several visitors watched the proceedings during (he day and the meeting was ably controlled by the referee, Mr T, W. King.
