THE BRITISH CABINET
RECONSTRUCTION RUMOURS. TOO MANY “PASSENGERS.” (Pres« Association—By Telegraph—Copyright.) LONDON, January 23. It is persistently rumoured that important Cabinet changes are likely ro take place before Parliament meets in February. Tiie Times, in an editorial, suggests that a revision is necessary. The article is believed to be inspired by Conservative headquarters, where marked changes in the management followed the Hon. F. 8. Jackson’s appointment as Governor of Bengal. It is recognised that the Cabinet is too large and is carrying too many passengers. The most prominent to disappear is expected to be Sir Philip CunliffeLister, who may go to the House of Lords. It is understood that consideration is being extended to the abolition of the Ministries of Transport, Mines, and Labour, the functions of which will revert to the Board of Trade, as was the case before the war.—A. and N.Z. Cable.
